(rain date: Sunday, July 30, 2017)
Where: South Lawn, Richardson Olmsted Campus
To thank the community for their support of the Richardson’s redevelopment, the Richardson Olmsted Campus and the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra will present a celebratory light show and concert in July 2017: enLIGHTen.
enLIGHTen will feature a 60-minute concert performed by your BPO and conducted by JoAnn Falletta. The concert will spotlight the historical function of the Richardson as a place of healing by featuring music by famous composers who lived with mental illness and created great works, including Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, and Handel, among others.
The BPO will perform on the renewed South Lawn while a custom-designed light show is projected onto the face of the Richardson. The “video-mapped” light show will be designed by local projectionist crew PROJEX under the artistic direction of Keith Harrington to highlight architectural elements and history of the site.
Visitors will be invited to join the celebration and enjoy enLIGHTen from the South Lawn. The event is free and open to the public!
enLIGHTen is sponsored by M&T Bank. The BPO’s performance is made possible in part through a Regional Economic Development Council Arts Implementation grant from the New York State Council for the Arts with additional support from Iroquois Bar Corp. and National Grid.
